The South Australian Branch was delighted at the Black Tie Final Dinner held at the conclusion of the Recent Canberra Federal Rally when our long-standing Club Member Mr Rory Poland was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Federal Body. Rory has been a member of the South Australian Branch for the past 36 years and during that time has owned a number of superb cars, his current 25/30 HP GR04 “The Mistress” being the winner of numerous awards. Rory has always been the most collegiate and selfless member any club could ask for, he has acquired an enormous knowledge of our club and the marque and has always been keen to help others with issues with their vehicles, whether it be the sourcing of unusual parts, advice regarding maintenance or restoration in fact any aspect of our cars he is forever helpful. Rory has at various times and on multiple occasions occupied every executive position in our club and has been the architect of almost every Federal Rally our Branch has hosted for the last 30 years. In years when the Federal Rally is hosted interstate Rory has been instrumental in organizing the “Overlander” a carefully planned drive to the Rally through unique back roads across our beautiful country which create wonderful camaraderie and serve as an excellent aperitif to the forthcoming Rally. Congratulations Rory!
